THIS JUST IN:
Marvin Lewis is demanding organizational upgrades from the wayward spawn of Paul Brown, and will likely walk away if he doesn’t. This has the potential to be a big turning point for the franchise. In recent memory, I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a sub-par coach rejecting an offer for an extension and pay raise. Mike Brown (and his unfortunate host, the Cincinnati Bengals) will come away with a black eye if they can’t even manage to retain a coach who is 60-67-1. With fan disatisfaction and disappointment at an all-time high and with lots of recently expired season tickets and suite leases that are unlikely to be renewed amongst the status quo, I’m not sure that Mike Brown can afford to be his miserly self and reject Marvin’s plea for a necessary transformation into a modern 21st century franchise.
But, hey! We’re all suckers for disappointment here in the Queen City.
